Teachers & Support Staff

There are currently three full-time teaching staff including the Principal and a part-time Librarian. Our School has access to a regional STLA teacher who visits the school regularly.

Class Teachers

Each full-time teacher has a class of students which consists of in-town and out-of-town students.  The teacher’s day involves;

  • teaching in the classroom face to face with in-town students
  • conducting satellite lessons in the studio with their whole class – in-town and out-of-town students
  • marking work received in the mail from out-of-town students
  • preparing work for the classroom and to send to supervisors (the work sent to out-of-town students is the same as what is taught face to face in the classroom, so that out-of-town students can attend school whenever they are in town and be working on the same unit of work)

In addition, teachers:

  • visit each out-of-town family twice a year
  • prepare and conduct mini-schools, which held once every term.

Librarian

The Librarian works with each in-town colour group once a week.  The students also enjoy developing skills in areas of Creative and Practical Arts, such as singing, recorder and drama.

Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA)

The STLA provides learning assistance for students who need extra support in literacy or numeracy, by way of phone lessons.  The STLA also works in the classroom for regular timetabled sessions, to allow colour groups to work separately during most literacy sessions and also, to release class teachers from class to make them available for satellite lessons and marking work.

Teacher’s Aide/ School Administrative Officer (SAO)

The Teacher's Aide assists in the classroom and also works in the correspondence room to organise the loan and return of resources to out-of-town students.

School Administrative Manager (SAM)

The SAM is responsible for the efficient management of the administration, finance and resources of the school.
