Students There are 10 students enrolled at TOSOTA, ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6. Eight students attend the school each day for lessons and two students live on properties in the surrounding area and complete their lessons at home. Class learning structureThe students are arranged into colour groups, according to which Stage outcomes (of the NSW Syllabus) they are working towards achieving. There are currently four colour groups:
TOSOTA has two classes, Kindergarten - Year 2 and Years 3 - 6. Each class has a teacher who programs student work, plans and conducts satellite lessons and reports on student progress. Teachers are relieved from class duties by our Teacher Librarian who works at the School one day a week. This time allows teachers to plan and mark work for distance education students. Distance Education students TOSOTA’s distance education students are located all around the ‘corner country’ of New South Wales and Queensland. The closest family lives 40 km away from Tibooburra, and the furthest family is 350 km away. Post PrimaryThere is no high school in Tibooburra, so when students reach Year 6, they know it is their final year of face to face schooling in Tibooburra. Every year the staff and students farewell Year 6’s to boarding houses and boarding schools all around Australia, but always look forward to their return at school holiday time. High school can also be completed by distance education through Dubbo School of Distance Education. |
