Mini-school Every term, for one week, all students join together to take part in whole school activities. The week usually follows a theme and focuses on developing skills in areas such as art, science, HSIE, PE, in addition to literacy and numeracy. It is a valuable time for teachers, students, supervisors and parents: students’ relationships strengthen as they get to know more about each other; parents and supervisors can socialise and compare the triumphs and trials of supervising; and teachers work face to face with their whole class group and can also address any concerns of supervisors. Throughout the mini-schools held during the year, students traditionally participate in the Swimming Carnival, Cross Country and Sports Day. In Term 4, students work hard and have fun preparing for Presentation Night, which is held in the Albert Hall. In addition, other committees in town take the opportunity to involve out-of-town students in activities organised for after school and in the evenings during mini-school weeks. The P&C sometimes organise for a movie to be played at the Drive-In Theatre and the Blue Light Committee often organise an activity such as a games night, disco or pool party. These social events are always well attended and appreciated by the students.
